On sunday while in my chim, suddenly lost all pedal travel in clutch and would only come out of gear if i
turned engine off.Cluth itself seemed fine, must be master or slave cylinder i thought.Spoke to warren at TC on monday, gave him my expert opinion on what i thought it was.Booked it in for yesterday and warren promtly ordered and received said parts.Got up 5.30 am yesterday morning so that i could get it to TC first thing in morning.via AA relay.Waved goodbye to car and went home for tea and snooze. At 9.30 thought i would give them a call just to see if car got there ok.Brian took my call and to my surprise said it was fixed,eh whats all that about then.Your mat was caught under the pedal.(what a knob i felt).Anyway,at least i now know that TC are not only efficient, but will also not take the piss out of muppet customers.Had a great blast back to Hemel. Is anyone else out there brave enough to tell of any of there own embarrasing stories.

Im forever turning up at petrol stations to fill Ralph up only to forget EVERY time to pop the boot thus ensureing i stop car, turn off ignition, exit car, walk round to boot, back to car, lean very unattractivly in car, key in ignition, press button, key out etc etc.

I do it everytime!

Im sure the people in the petrol station think "Ahh bless, out in daddies car is she?"

Other examples of things that seem bad but after some investigation aren't.

1. Parked up at Tesco, couldn't close the passenger door. Wouldn't stay locked on the latch. Pondered it for a while then realised that as my glove box latch was broken the glove box door had dropped down and was holding the passenger door release handle out slightly, thus stopping it closing.

2. Blatting up M6 with roof down, convinced red warning light was coming on intermittently. Turns out it was simply the sun catching it from time to time.

I've had the same problem, but I'm proud to say I diagnosed it myself . I've also had a worrying vibration in the throttle pedal when depressing the brake pedal. That was caused by the same thing.

Am I a hot mechanic, or what?

The first time I borrowed the T350 I got to work and I turned off the ignition and took out the key but the display panel was still on, I sat there panicking thinking what have I done, it won't switch off and I have taken the key out and everything...

... I still had the headlights on

I couldn't believe how slow the Sierra I borrowed from work once was.... went a lot quicker once I'd taken the handbrake off though

Oops! A similar thing happened to me. The carpet mat had somehow edged its way partially over the accelerator, causing it to stay depressed without my knowledge. I was travelling at about 60 mph at the time and when I came to de-accelerate, nothing happened, it didn't slow down!! A huge panic at the time but massive relief when it turned out to be nothing serious.

Also, at the petrol station I couldn't unscrew the cap However, a young chap came over to assist although he couldn't manage to do it either! Anyway, another (older) guy asked if he could be of any help and in one attempt he undid it...what a hero *swoon* *swoon*

Was once in very slow heavy traffic on my motorbike - rather attractive girl walking along the pavement next to the road, so I look left for 5 seconds for a proper oggle - anyway, face forwards again only to find car in front has stopped, requiring extremely rapid application of front brake. Result - back wheel climbs skywards to near vertical position propelling me onto tank, catching plums on the way forward. Somehow managed to save it though and got it back to ground with much flailing of limbs. Girl walking by didn't even notice (fortunately) but the two guys in a white van driving the other way were killing themselves.

Years ago when I worked for Audi, we had the 'then' new A4 from Germany on demonstration.

It was a left hooker and I had it for one evening.

Went to pick my girlfriend up. Pulled outside her house and smiled and waved at her as she walked towards the car.

Clearly confused, she still tried to get in the side that I was sat in!

Odd girl!

OK here's one for you all....

A few Saturday's ago, popped to supermarket in the Chim. Queued for about 20 mins to get in the car park. Parked. Switched off engine and got out. Went to lock the car on the blipper - nothing! Tried different angles, touching head, etc. Still nothing. Assumed that the battery had died, but slightly confused as it had opened the car 30 mins before.

Also, as blipper wasn't working, I couldn't restart the car. And, the manual override was at home! Doh!

So, jumped in a taxi -went home and picked up spare blipper and manual override thingy! Taxi back to the car park - £10 taxi ride, nice!

Tried new blipper - nothing!! Bug*er! Both blippers running out of battery on the same day - very odd.

At least I could get the car started with the manual override. Went and pleaded with the man in the little booth to let me out even though I had no shopping - to which he agreed. (Didn't fancy leaving the car unlocked (and therefore uninsurred) in car park while I did my shopping.)

As I pulled out of the car park and trundled down the road wondering how much this was going to cost to fix, I noticed that the red light on my garage door remote control was on.

I pulled over, made sure the remote was off, and tried the blipper. Worked perfectly!!!!

The stupid thing was jamming the signal.

I was so embarressed that didn't go back into the car park - just went home. Shopping could wait!!

I had a friend who filled up his Maestro(I know, I know!) at Tescos, paid and when he came back had difficulty getting the key into the ignition. Turned out he had got into the Granada next to his car and it even had a passenger in it!....really was a friend, not me!

I went to Sainsbury's the week we had the blizzards, tried to get my key in the lock whilst getting very wet and it wouldn't go in, just started to panic, when I realised it wasn't my car, same model, colour etc, just parket 2 spaces down from mine

Ive done that too, only i managed to get into the car (a metro) and tried starting it up to no avail.
It was only when the real owner asked me what the hell i was doing that i realised i was in the wrong metro!
