Hi, as the title says. I am looking for a C70 convertible (old shape). I have seen some badged 'Collection', are these worth more?
They seem to have different wheels, a bit of silver trim, and some have a nice looking caramel leather interior. Anyone know the full list of extras?
Thanks.

Unique wheels, extended soft leather - included the sun visors. Unique interior colour option. Seem to recall carbon trim inside. Came in grey, silver or black with black or tan leather. Some have the gt pack on, but I think all of them had heated seats. The best looking of the classic shape, but not worth any more than an equivalent standard car.
Can you live with the scuttle shake though,

I brought Mrs Ice one. Not the collection though. It is "05" T5 auto. IMO the collection does not really have anything the standard ones don't. You would be really hard pushed to figure out which is which, appart from the gastly interior colour options.

Scuttle shake can be curred dramatically with a strut brace.

Options to have:

Heated Leather
Auto - really is excellent
Good colour combination
Dolby sound with the twin subs behind the rear seats (amazing!)
Manual seats (the electric ones take ages - if you are getting people in to the back)

Issues:

Turning circle really bad, really really bad
If you go for a T5 the front tyres will not last long
As you are buying a newish car, no problem with suspension bushes etc
T5 fuel consumption not good

Overall:

Great cars
Very under estimated
It actually looks better than the new version with the hard folding roof
Quicker than the new cars

I've had a few volvos in the past and these are great cruisers.

PS. It nice blowing the cobwebs off on the weekend....at full chat they sound pretty good!

Thanks for the tips. I would prefer a T5 but wouldn't refuse a 2.4T if the car was good. I have test driven one 2.4T which was fine.

I had an 850 T5 auto which did 24mpg roughly - is the C70 any better than that?

There was a black 56k mile 04 plate 2.4T auto collection with caramel leather on ebay last week which went for £6250. It is now on autotrader for £7495 by the way!

TBH the C70 gets 19-22mpg around town and 29-33mpg.

So yes it is better, probably the shape is more slipery. Manual is probably better still for mpg.

That is a great price by the way!

PS. Alot of car for the money.

I thought that was a good price, it was too far away for me.

I can't see it on AT now so maybe the dealer has sold it already - easy profit on that!

p.s. Does anyone know if the T5 engine suffers from ETM failure? Also what is the cam belt interval?

All the engines can have ETM probs but should be fine if correctly cleaned out and looked after - Don't even worry about it though - not a major issue to fix if you take it to a garage that knows what their doing -

All the engines are good - I actually quite like the 2.5 20v lump (often refered to as a 2.4 20v) - 170bhp sounds nicer than the turbos and goes well enough and fairly good on juice

Unless you get an early one that has the throttle cable still in place biggrin
