E60 autobox fluid
Discussion
Can't remember the name of the stuff of the top of my head (been a while!) but it is specialist oil. DON'T be tempted to put any old ATF in it as you'll kill the transmission. You have a mechatronic gearbox it that car, best bet is to get some from a BMW dealer. Also there is a recommended filling proceedure that if not followed will give the wrong oil level and potentially damage the transmission.
I found this on "justanswer.com" by someone who is signed on as a BMW technician:

The M-1375 sounds right when I looked at this 6 months ago - but you need to chech which gearbox you have - I am not sure we have the same gearbox (550 here). I would talk to BMW because they are theonly ones I could find that could supply the oil, however they did tell me they don't do fluid changes. I asked why they had access to fluid then, and he errrrreeedddd...and told me ity was in case they had to rebuild or replace any gearboxes.....but in the end he quoted me around £400 to do the job IIRC. The oil itself does cost £15 or so per litre and you need around 9 litres IIRC so it is not a cheap job, but I am going to do at 65k miles and I think its worth the money. There are specialists around that do this sort of thing but make sure they have done al oad of E60's before so they know what they are doing. IIRC I was quoted around £250 from a specialist to do it, which does compare favourably with BMW - but not sure whether I would prefer BMW doing it in case something goes wrong....your decision!
Hope this helps - but do check out the details for yourself!
