Hiya, we're going to the HMV Picture House in April to see the mighty UFO and am looking for some accommodation nearby with off-street parking. Google and Laterooms aren't proving to be much help in my search.

Hotel would be preferable to guest house and I'm looking at the cheap end of the market [just taking the wife this time]. We don't mind having to walk a bit.

Any suggestions?

The Sheraton is right across the road, or not much further out is the Premier Inn Haymarket (street name is Morrison Link). Both have parking.

The Holiday Inn on Cowgate has parking but that would be a 10-15 minute walk.

Think the Travellodge around the corner on St Mary's might share their parking too, but again, same distance.

The Castle Car Park (NCP) is literally behind the picture house, so don't worry too much about parking. You're right in the centre of Edinburgh so there are plenty of places to stay. Can't help beyond that, we usually stay in Tigerlily.

The Caledonian (Hilton) has parking. It's at the bottom of Lothian Road, on the corner of Princes Street.

Thanks for the helpful replies everybody.

Some of you have a different idea of "cheap" from me but I'm sure I'll find something suitable from what has been suggested. wink

There are serviced apartments in the Grassmarket that might suit your idea of cheap. I only live in Glasgow, if I'm in Edinburgh it's a treat, so i don't go anywhere cheapo! To be fair, centre of Edinburgh isn't generally great value unless you're a backpacker.
