Newbe X--type 2.5 questions

Bought an 05 X type tonight. Got home and when you turn the car off there is a slight hum coming from around the key area (US car). Almost like a antenna motor running. Any ideas what it may be?

Also my gas cap door doesn't open unless you pull on it whle pulling the lever. Seems that it doesn't "spring" out. I'm guessing the metal prong just need some adjusting right.

Blasted TVR encouraged me to dump my perfectly good Impreza making my 71 Honda CB175 my reliable ride

The slight hum is a small fan blowing air over a cabin temperature sensor. It shuts down soon after locking the car but starts up again as soon as you unlock or open the door. Its purpose in life is so the climate control knows what to do as soon as you start up.

Thanks, that was quite perplexing. I really do like the car so far even though it is definately a stripper version. Only option on the sheet was for the 5 speed. Unfortunately I assumed they all had a split rear seat and of course this one doesn't nor does it have a ski pass through. Forcing me to order the blasted roof rack today. Not a fan of having my $1300 skis sitting out in the elements but I guess it will do. Would've looked for a wagon but definately wanted a stick and us Americans didn't get that option. Maybe I'll see if it can hold its water against my Subaru awds this weekend as the roads are forcasted to be white.
