I tried to use this website for the first time today and it also became the last time.
I went through the whole process of registering and then attempting to buy a ticket. After booking online using Deustche Bahn in Germany and also in various other countries in Europe, I was expecting to be able to print off my ticket (kind ofthe reason for buying it online really). I couldn't find any option to do this, only to have it delivered by post - completely useless for travel with 24hrs or to get it from a ticket machine at the station using some kind of reference number. I really can't see the point of having an online booking facility if you can't then print off the ticket. Queuing up at a machine gives no advantage because I can just as easily use my credit card in the machine and buy the ticket there and then (and not pay up front and not pay an online booking fee). The ticket price was the same as if I bought it at the station, so not even an incentive there.
What a load of rubbish. Can you imagine checking in online with an airline and not being able to print off a boarding pass, especially if you only have hand baggage?
Why is UK public transport so far behind that on the continent (and far, far more expensive)?

It's no better booking direct with the operator. At small stations the machine is quicker than the ticket office but the only real advantage I see is seat allocation and then it's often double booked. For frequent but irregular users like me I'd like to see a full service package of car parking space, seat booking and ticket which I can print at home. That would save time, especially the car parking which is a mess at most stations.

If you're paying for a train ticket, the car parking should be free/included. Same as it should be at airports. Supermarkets /DIY stores have offered this service for years. It's a reason I don't use the trains very much at all and avoid UK airports as much as I can.Silver993tt said:

I agree. But I just booked for tomorrow morning and not even the seat is guaranteed. I give up.Jubal said:
