Whilst you're phoning round, might be worth trying Barclays Insurance Services (0870 600 1414); they've been very competitive for me for the past couple of years and seem to apply a £100 excess whatever the car, wherever you're located (I'm in Catford, didn't bother them). Do you intend to do track days?

I too am thinking of buying a Chimp and spent about 3 hours phoning around for insurance. It maybe because I'm a young pup, 27, but it seemed ridiculously high at the moment, especially when you look at the quotes listed on the TVR Webmart site. That said Mannings were the cheapest at £1300, but this was double what they quoted me last year for the same car. Direct Line were also in the ball park so it maybe worth giving them a try as well. Good Luck!

I seem to feel a bit better now reading all your quotes.

Tesco's have quoted me £1021 with a £200 excess.
They upped the excess to £500 to see if they could get it cheaper only for it to jump up to £1081!!
Then they could only get it back to £1035.
On the web they quoted £992.
Sunninghill quoted £962.35 protected with a £500 excess.
A Manning quoted £1033.35 with £300 excess all subject to being a club member.

I am 27, 5 yrs NCB, No claims or Convictions and it will be used as a second car.
Haven't much time for any other quotes as I'm picking it up tomorrow (weds) afternoon

A 2 owner R Reg Storm Grey 4.0 Chimaera.
It has got 52,500 on the clock and has a FTVRSH from TMS, where the car was originally sold.
The mileage does not worry me as it will be used as a second car.£15,500 doesn't sound bad for a '98 R does it?

The current owner is a real enthusiast and has owned it for just over a year.
She used to have it trailered from Milton Keynes to Melton Mowbray for its Services!!

I should be picking it up around 2.00, that's if I can prise the keys of her.

Congratulations!

Hope you enjoy it in the sun we've had this week?

Did you get it checked over at all? TMS history is good though – they do have a good rep.

I didn't get it checked after all, it had a Full TMS Service history, and the lady who owned/owns it would only have Paul work on it.
She used to drop into her local Corvette dealer and get them to check the oil & top it up, she told me they liked the noise of it there!!

If I had an Inspection on it, it would have had to be trailered up to TMS, or to driven to a Halfords (and people have said the AA are not brilliant). It may have taken a week or so to arrange.
Someone else had seen the car before me and wanted it but had not sold their Z3.
I had to move quickly or I might have lost it.
I had an AA search done on it, it came back with oustanding finance from the dealer, i.e Dealer Stocking Finance, but the details had not been updated by the dealer/finance company so that was all o.k.

Looking forward to picking it up, but not so sure about my depleted Savings account.

Hoping to get to the Essex meet for an hour or so on the 7th.
