There was a guy at the Asda Charity Day at Bruntingthorpe last year who had a sequential (Duratec?) Westfield. Is he on here? It did go bang from memory (i think the gearbox) but he was on slicks and drifting it like a madman. Very nice car. A mate of mine uses a Quaife sequential box I think in his Vauxhall powered National Hot Rod.

Thanks for your comments. My target is the IL200 due to its lightweigth and my plan is to fit it on my SBD vauxhall Westy.
Thanks again

What are you intending to use the car for, and do you have any experience of straight-cut, dog-engagement gearboxes?

They can be pretty brutal, uncivilised things for road use and are generally better suited to the race track.

Hello Sam,
Yes, in fact I want it to replace my old Tran-X straigh cut unit. The IL200 weights just 40Lbs. I have in mind to replace the stock propshaft with a carbon fiber unit and put a couple of kgs. out. The car is just for hillclimb and some trackday events.

Cheers,

I use the Elite l200 6 speed in a Westfield fitted to a Honda engine.
Its used for sprints and hillclimbs.
So far there has been no problems, its not as finished as other sequentials ie,Quaife G60, Drenth, Sadev.
But thats reflected in the price of the Elite compared to the others.
Try to fit the smallest flywheel and clutch you can.
Warm the gearbox oil up before using it in ernest, and you will find that it performs as well as the rest.
Regards.

Ok, Thanks Mick,
Actually I'm using the lightest flywheel/clutch combo I have found (around 10Lbs). Thanks everybody for the feedback. I'm sure it will be a good improvement.

My friend runs one in his 500bhp Turbo Westfield. I've driven it alot... Its noisy but works well. Its done few road miles and lots of trackdays and 1/4 miles now and still working very well.

I've emailed him this link. he will post soon I expect.

Hi Mick smile My diffuser is all on now. Looks awesome!

Ive got the 500HP Westy with the Elite. Its the IL300 6 speed though which is way more beefy than the IL200.

Its done quite a bit of track work, 1/4 miles and around 2000 road miles over 2 years with no trouble at all.

As mick said, treat it fairly like decent oil and let it warm up, decent positive gearchange and you should have no issues.

Elite are 150% great company to deal with in terms of customer service too. Dave Fenton is the man to speak to there.
