Any one got any idea how they chose the Administrators? P and A are based in Sheffield with only a token London office, does not seem logical to me.

Edit to add, there is a sentence on the BBC website but not full story yet.

Crystal Palace go into administration
Championship side Crystal Palace have gone into administration, according to administrators P and A Partnership.

The Eagles twice failed to pay players this season and chairman Simon Jordan had been searching for new investors to attract to the south London club.

Administrator Brendon Guilfoyle said: "This club has been in the spotlight with creditors pressing for payments and players anxious about wages.

"Our role is to find a buyer quickly to provide certainty for the future."

He added: "We are hoping our appointment will be short-lived as we understand there are many interested buyers."

that's a bit of a shame since they had a cracking game at premiership club Wolves on Saturday and were clearly the better team and should have won having taken the lead twice (result 2-2, replay next week). They're also only a couple of points away from the play-off zone and have divison leaders Newcastle away tomorrow evening.

I quite like Palace, but not Simon Jordan. A 10 point penalty will really bugger things up.

that really is a stupid rule. A club goes into administration because it hasn't got any money, 10 points is deducted so they have even less chance of making any money. Only in the UK.

Perfectly sensible rule. It stops the clubs gaining an unfair advantage by doing a pheonix and walking away from their debts with no penalty.

Palace are in a false position because they have players that they cannot afford to pay.

Or a club goes into admin because they've lived beyond their means and overspent. Another words cheated. Some will say it's the fans that suffer, but then most fans want success at any cost.

People should get a sense of reality and realise you're either a BIG self supporting club with a large fan base = more money, or, have a good brand name = more money. The others need to realise that they are smaller 'selling clubs' who should put more into academies and scouting, bringing in talent and selling on and using the money wisely to further the club at a more realistic rate.

Tango man, Jordan, has gone in there thinking big and punching above his weight and now its going to cost him and the club dearly. Maybe clubs will learn to operate within their own levels and stop worrying about trying to be bigger than what they really are. Instead of cheating other more well run clubs out of a higher place up that league.

Sorry but Crystal Palace cheating? What a load of old rubbish. Sounds like some comments here are coming from pure jealously that a club with not a great deal of cash has done so well and shown others that it's possible.

Oh well, I didn't realise there were those who sound happy when quite a few jobs are at risk. I feel verry sorry for those that gloat at others in trouble. When it happens to you, as it invariably will during some point in your life, I'm sure you will change your tune.

Not gloating? the fact is if a club over spends and takes a place higher up the league from a club who have been running their finances properly then in my book it's cheating. The people yopu need to look to for blame are the BoD who have let this happen.

I love it and I've been a Palace season ticket holder since 1976!!!, Its great, it's what makes being a Palace fan so special, its about getting through the st and over coming adversity. Its about not supporting Man-Ure or Chelsea, its about being a TRUE fan, not a glory fan. Its about our local team and having red & blue blood from the day you are born. Only 12 points from the play-offs - COME ON PALACE

What if your local team is man utd. And you supported them for day one. Pretty sure that you saying that to some of the manc season ticket holders would result in a punch.

Just because you support a st team (and they are in the grand scheme of football) it doesn't make you a bigger or better fan than someone who supports Chelsea or Man Utd, or Arsenal, or Liverpool.

furious From your somewhat confused post I think you are suggesting that I think I am better that MOST...(I SAID MOST...NOT ALL)of the glory teams fans, well.....OF COURSE I fkING AM YOU PLANK!!!!

I support my team through thick and thin, I try to get to as many games as I possibly can, I actually live near the ground (Yes, I know there are fans of the teams you have mentioned, which I'm sure you are one, that live near the ground but the majority of them don't), but above all I go to a game hoping to win, not expecting to win, that's the difference. I know that my team don't have a god given right to win a game, I go to watch in anticipation & hope. Something that is essential to any true football fan. My team is not st, they have a 100 history of ups as well as downs and that is something I love. To be a young boy who has been brought up to support a team that happens to be at the top of the premiership, who's ground is 200 miles away and only being able to dream of sitting in a box, prawn sandwich in hand is a travesty.

If I didn't support Palace AFC Wimbledon would be my team, they are also local to me but their fans know and understand what it is to be a football fan. Through thick and thin, ups & downs, they belong to you.

In this world of £150,000 a week players, 50' HD plasma football I'm so glad that I'm not a glory team fan, you can keep all that, give me a pint, a pie, a muddy pitch on a wet and windy Wednesday in the Carling Cup......and the occasional defeat any day of the week and if that makes my team st then bring it on! wink

They cannot walk away from football debts though. If those are not paid, they cannot play.
