Purchaseing of Networking Equipment.

Hi Guys

For an Assingment for University i am building a network and i have to specify equipment that we are going to use ect.
Does anybody know or use a good website that has a good selection of Core and normal switches and other networking gear. I have been using manufacturer websites but they dont always have the full selection (HP) or prices (Cisco).
Also does anyone have any recomandations of products and manufactures that have good selection of core/normal switches(48 ports), routers
