Reminds me of a similar incident, many years ago in Sussex:
Jensen Interceptor (mint) being MOTd by a junior mechanic not used to Automatics let alone 425 lb ft @ 2500 rpm !! , managed to destroy / remove garage back wall, carpark wall and serious damage to the pub next door and completely demolish the car, this happened whilst the car owner and garage proprieter were admiring it.

Went to school with a guy who got a job as a Mechanic on Diesel trucks (Big arse Kenworths), he had one in the workshop with the cap tilted forward etc working on the engine when he manages to start the engine......in gear, truck trundles forwards and crushes the cab against the wall.....then goes through the wall!
That's TORQUE

This is a grea one: A mate of mine worked for a scrap yard going out picking up dead cars. He was out one day picking up a transit van. The van was on a hill so he pulled up in front of it, dropped the bed of his truck and then hooked a winch around the chassis of the transit.
The transit was half way up the back of his truck when the transit's chassis gave out resulting in the winch flying out. The transit went straight off the back of his truck, and flew off down the hill. He reckons it must of hit about 30 mph before smashing into a parked Ford Escort which in turn then ploughed into the car behind it. Because of the force of the blow the transit managed to break away from the Escort and continued of its way across the road, down an embankment and striaght through the front room window of some guy’s house! All my mate could do was just watch.... He said the escort and the car behind were written off, and the house needed a conciderable amount of work. Strange thing is the guy who owned the Escort was livid yet the guy who owned the house was fine even making my mate a cup of tea while they waited for the police!!

I hope it wasn't your Jensen Tim
, must be much worse watching someone else total'ing your car than doing it in on your own

Well time for me to fess up about something that happened a long time ago.
Wife's car wouldn't start, so I decided to give a tow-start. Parked my car in front of hers in road. Explained to missus how she should turn on ignition, and once we were going, put it in 2nd & slowly let clutch in. She jumps in, I attach tow-rope and get in my car. But I'm not happy that it's correctly attached, and get out & re-attach. I get back in my car, slowly pull out into the road - and watch in the mirror as her EMPTY
car carries on in a straight line and smacks gently into the back of the car parked at the roadside in front of where I had parked.
Whilst I'd been re-attaching the tow-rope, she had gone back into the house to get something. And dumb me had not checked to see that she was ready. Had to explain to neighbour - who I didn't get on with anyway - that we'd crunched his car

Years ago when I had a garage business an automatic Granada came in with under bonnet fire damage. What the owner didn't tell me was that the in-gear starter inhibitor had been bypassed (why I dont know). So I reach through the drivers window and turn the key and Hey Presto, of it goes, gathering speed accross the carpark and demolishes the wall of the business opposite.
And the s*d blamed me! The insurance sorted it eventually.ButI didn't know wether to laugh, cry or punch his head in.

I worked as a driver at a car auction's in Essex for a while, driving the cars through for the bidders.
The Car was an automatic calibre,i was stationary with my foot lightly on the brake, when a bloke reached in and pulled the bonnet catch,
He stood in front of the car and proceded to rev the engine,Well i guess you have an idea of what happened next
....yes he run his self over, and ended up in hospital with a dislocated knee, Tw

Great story Skip - LOL!
Friend of mine (quite a character) told us of a time he was in a real hurry one morning. Scurried the kids and wife up - rush-rush! - into the escort, start up and off whilst putting seat belts on. Thought the steering was a bit heavy, then realised the Krook-Lock was still attached to the steering wheel and the brake pedal! No brakes - slammed into the back of a car at the first junction. Nobody hurt fortunately.
When I picked my Mustang up at the docks in Bristol at New Year the receiving agent guy gave me a lift over in his van to see the car in a big warehouse - about 800 yards from his office. We collected the keys from another bloke in another building on the way. When I got to the car it was parked close to two others that had come off the ship. He puts the van to the right rear of mine. Get in the Mustang, tried to start it - dead as a doornail - nothing. Duff battery probably and had been sitting on the boat for a month.
So he calls up the port guys on his mobile and in about 90 secs two massive blokes wearing fluorescent jackets weave up in an Omega Estate with a big orange revolving light on the top. How's that for service I thought?
They parked at 90 degrees to the van - get out, and get the jump leads out the back. We then all push the Mustang back quite a way and they draw up next to the front wing of the Mussie. We connect the leads. I try to start it - it groans away - turning the starter.
One of the dock guys thinks he'll help by revving the Omega (which is automatic and is sitting there in R with the handbrake on). I'm sitting in the Mustang with the bonnet up on the left of the car so can't see the Omega.
All of a sudden I hear this almighty screeching noise, then a thud and a guy shouting. Of course as matey has floored the throttle, the thing has flown backwards at high speed and with the door open, has put the edge of the door straight through the receiving agents van rear window and completely bent the door of the Omega too. The leads had flown off the Mustang battery and gone hurtling along in front of the Vauxhall. There's the dock guy lying on the ground next to the crumpled door in a state of shock and me climbing out the Mussie to see who's dead
Good job he didn't have it in D ...

So, did you get it started Mike? - No damage from the flying leads then!
Question- Why on earth did he leave it in R? - what's wrong with P?
Hi Dodger,
They're flying everwhere all day these guys (apparently)
- shouldn't have been this day it was New Year's Eve ... ! So they leave it in D or R and just put the handbrake on to keep it from creepng forward ot back - laziness or what ... They rolled it forward again and we did it again til it started. Then I followed the receiving agent with the busted van back to his office so I could sign a witness statement!
Then I left the docks, went over the M5 to the Gordano Services to fill up with fuel. Left it running while I filled it, had a bloke come rushing over saying turn it off, turn it off - turned it off and it failed to start again.
Cost me £12 in jump leads from the garage shop (crafty sales ploy!)
