I sent a package 1st class recorded on the 19th Jan ... still hasnt arrived at the receivers address - no attempt to deliver or anything.

the tracking code when punched into RM website says: "your parcel is making its way through the system"

Royal mail is a bloody joke...

i havent a clue how many parcels never get delivered but i expect it is a fairly large amount

Depends if you mean undelivered because the address doesn't exist, postage not paid and returned by Royal Mail to the sender, or those items of post that just get lost.

They should have stats for the former, and not a scooby about the volume of the latter as they simply will not have any data.

It is a bit like the political hot potato of "How many illegal immigrants are there in the UK ?" Nobody knows because they are off the radar.

I got 1 bit of post this morning.

The name is wrong (no-one who has ever lived here has that name).
The house number is right.
Street name is wrong.
Post Town is right.
Post Code is wrong.

So it was delivered, just 500 yards from the right address. Question is what do I do with it now? Pop it back in the post, with a note, take it round to the right address, take it to the local delivery office, burn it?
