R129 SL500 Help!

Hi All,

My old beastie has a couple of recent issues that I need to sort and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I took it to a garage.

1) On hard left turn there is a slight knock or clunking noise, nothing major and only happens once when turning hard left. Anyone had this before

2) Tonight the temp gauge decided to go a bit nuts. It is rising and falling erratically. It wasn't overheating as I noticed pretty much as soon as I started the car up?

3) A slight knocking noise from the rear nearside. Again, nothing major and only happens on the roughest of surface but it needs looking at.

1) I suspect this is an alignment issue. Mine started doing it after I had the lower control arms replaced. A four wheel alignment helped things but did not cure the problem.

2) I would assume a bad sender.

3) Worn bushes, either in the rear suspension or on the subframe or the diff mount. Or loose exhaust.

I'm no expert but I have heard that some of the knocking noise could be down to a loose baffle in the petrol tank?
