Insurance Declinature
Discussion
Today I have received a letter from my current insurers Hagerty stating that they are now unable to renew my policy due to amended undewriting guidelines!
Has anyone else come across this? I know that there are an awful lot of wedges insured with them. Maybe it was the fact that I was honest enough to tell them I had uprated suspension and a adjustable fuel regulator!
Nothing else has changed, no bumps, any ideas until I get a response from them?

Seems to be alot of chatter on pistonheads regarding Hagertys, seems the company has had a bit of a change of strategy and now are not insuring any one under 30 or any TVR newer than 1980ish, which is no good for a youngun like me, which is why i've gone with Classicline this year

One of the recent threads about this was here: (Chimp. forum)

I emailed them and was told: "Hagerty International Limited have taken the strategic decision to insure just classic vehicles and so from the 20/01/2010 we will not be insuring any TVR models built after 1980."

Just received my renewal as well. Hagertys will still insure my 390, but the premium has gone up 60%. I've just been on GoCompare (I'm not usually a sucker for advertising) and Lancaster has come back with the cheapest quote of £140, which is what I paid last year. Funnily enough I was insured with them when I first got the car, and they did do agreed values as well.
Yep same here, massive increase in premium from Hagerty's. Apparently too many 1980's / 90s "future classics" having claims...
Shame as Hagerty's were excellent, their staff are very knowledgeable/helpful, but now I suspect their premiums are no better than the rest...
Still cant understand why they dont look more at the driver's historyr ather than what they drive. I'm 45+, driving since 17, driven all sorts of high performance cars, and only ever had one claim (a £500 third party claim 10 years ago), no points, car garaged, 3,000 miles a year,.. but I get thumped on premiums because everyone else who drives cars like mine crashes them..
Will definitely shop around now.
