I have a 2006 535d sport touring in which I have done 40k exciting miles. I extended the warranty for its 4th year through BMW and reckon I just about got my premium back (failed track rod end, tailgate strut and central locking control). Looking at cover for year 5 and don't like the premium quoted by BMW and some of the restrictions (eg wear and tear policy, must be serviced by dealer). Been looking at alternatives and not overly impressed by them although Warranty Wise looks the best. Has anyone any relevant experience? Or am I just being a wuss and should I trust in the car's reliability not to cost more than £500 or so in repairs over the next £12k miles?

Have you read this thread?

Worth a look if you haven't already - seems BMW will negotiate if you push them

I went with Warranty Direct - not needed to make a claim thus far but generally they seem to be well regarded (there will always be some horror stories with all warranties of course). Look at Warranty Direct's website, go all the way through the process of buying until the payment screen and then cancel. They'll call you back and try to match whatever price you've received elsewhere - say 20% off their standard price.

Brilliant advice - thanks. Just got a deal with WD for £460 for their luxury cover with a £50 excess which is better than BMW (Mondial) £635 with £100 excess and better than the WD offering online.
