My uncle has ordered a 1 series coupe grey with grey interior, do you think this is too boring?

1) It's your uncle's car
2) Would he change the colour if the PH crowd thought grey/grey was boring?
3) Do you care what colour his car is?

No...boring would be grey with black interior, or silver with black interior etc.

Grey with the light grey interior is quite unusual in a 1-er Coupe.

+1

I dont think the uncle will give a monkeys what we think - and rightly so. His money, his car.

He is very worried about resale hence the question.

Let your uncle make his own mind up, or can he not do that..... what does it matter to you if he gets a grey car, it has nothing to do with you what colour he likes, does it?

In that case, the 1 series coupe might not have been the best idea in the first place scratchchin

Forget the paint, what engine has he ordered?

This is PH, not Grand Designs! You should be more interested in ensuring that he has the 135 on order!

He has ordered 123d, and the reason why I posted is to gauge opinion of that colour combination as regards to resale. As he doesn't know much about forums I did it for him. Many thanks for your many varied opinions.

Sticks.

I suspect the colour will have a detrimental effect on residual value. But he'll take such a hit anyway, it wo'nt make it much worse.

Ignore this lot, they talk crap. wink

All new cars loose seriousy money and that is fact.
The one series is the best car in the entire range for residuals, I bought mine and drove it for nearly two years and 30k miles and it lost just under £4k.

I have now got a 123d and expect it to loose around £6k in two years, still pretty good. Although I did save £5k and bought it at 6 months old with 4k miles on it, I always do.

The grey interior is the killer, very unpopular, don't think it matters that it is grey outside too, just think the grey interior puts people off, it is very cold and neither sporty or exclusive looking, its....well grey.

If he wants a lighter interior maybe choose Lemon, it looks far sportier....

If he wants it lighter all over then the beige is actually quite nice, not bad against the grey either, look at the new 5 series press shots, but saw one on a Deep Sea Blue coupe the other day and it looked stunning...

At least it feels warm inside.

I have a Space Grey 1er which IMHO looks great and I believe is a sought after colour.

Not too sure about a grey interior though - will look a bit early W220 S Class and dated. I went with black, which looks good and will be popular come resale time.

Sometimes I do feel it is a little bit "safe" though. The red leather looks spectacular with Space Grey.

Another Space Grey 123d here. Don't like leather so went with the standard Sensatec/Flashpoint interior trim which looks great imo. Very pleased and love mine. Cracking little car!
