Do HR Depts recognise BullS***t

Just a casual enquiry do we think that HR Depts are taken in by some of the sycophantic applications that they must receive? e.g it has always been a goal of mine to flip burgers in such a forward thinking company as yours. Or would the approach "I hadn't considered working in your particular field, but if I was given the opportunity I would be, honest, hardworking, reliable and flexible" Views please

Your second approach seems as though the company you are applying to is not top of your list - kind of a 'I've applied to all my favourite companies been rejected and now have to cast my net wider to my second tier choice'. A better way to write might be: "I want to work for you because X, Y, Z"
