When I turn on the A/C, the engine revs drop a little,to be expected, but the pulley gets really hot and starts to smoke. Do I just replace the pulley, or is it a symptom of something more sinister. Cold air does come from the vents, although I have not run it for long due to the smoking pulley. Any advice welcome!

If the smoke is coming from the pulley then surely it's the belt slipping (very badly)!

Maybe the pump is buggered, bearings gone? I think someone on here had one explode a few months ago. Nasty business.

Had the same problem in my 840 and eventually changed the whole unit for an exchange one. Cost was £220.00 fitted
