Garlic is a true food, comes across as genuinely flavoursome, and is the sort of thing you could use in cooking for hours.

It's become the face of seasoning for a lot of us, and I always look forward to seeing where I can use it next.

Please note this is not a food-love thread.
Just an appreciation of a top foodstuff!

So do I. A world without garlic is unimaginable.

However at this time of year, most supermarket garlic is shrivelled and full of hate - taking the shoot out is a must.

I was more thinking closer to home than the supermarket...the sort of garlic that a Kentish chap might like... wink :cough:

I see what you did there :heh:

But, yes. Garlic. A staple foodstuff in our household.

I put garlic in virtually everything. For the avoidance of doubt: I have never, nor will I ever, put anything in Garlick. wink

I grow my own garlic. It was very successful last year. Shove the cloves in in December, harvest in August.

Mmmm. Stinky.

I got Tesco's delivery to bring some around the other day and this bloke turned up in a strangely brown coloured Range Rover. He even forgot to bring the clove frown.

Totally agree with your recommendation - I only live a couple of miles from the garlic farm and their garlic in terms of variety and quality is amazing and the flavour is so strong compared to the supermarket stuff you really have to be careful how much you use. Try the Purple Heritage Moldovan or the Colossal Elephant Garlic.

If you really like your garlic, pop down to this:

You could try planting the cloves now and see if they come up.

Good garlic soup, made strong enough so that everyone else turns their noses up at it - Food of Kings. Stinky Kings.
This year is seeing a sizeable chunk of the allotment given over to garlic - some already planted in Nov/Dec, another lot going in in Feb.
