"...not the right kind of document"??? Help!
Discussion
I've just started getting the following error-message in CS3:-
"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
Now I'm just trying to open .CR2 files (Canon RAW). It also doesn't happen on all of them, just some...however it does appear to be the photos I've shot with the 40D not the 20D...in fact as I test them it looks like all of the files out of the 40D! Oh crap...
Has anyone come across this before? And does anyone have any ideas what to do?
(Thankfully I've got the JPEGs in medium-size out of the camera, but that's not the point...)

At a complete guess, this'll be ACR related. CS3 wont be able to get the ACR version that it needs to open the RAW files your 40D is generating
I have the same problem, but I import/catalogue to Lightroom first, so it's not such a problem. You could try Raw Therapee if you're after a freebie converter

Try this..
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?...
Or alternatively, get a proper RAW Convertor

Weirdly it wasn't a problem when I was running XP, only now I'm running Vista.Still:-
- I've got Windows-7 on the way
- I've been looking for an excuse to get CS4
Thanks,
M.
Very cunning way of getting you to upgrade PS when you buy a new camera.. As said, the free adobe digital negative converter should enable you so process raws as before. But ACR is a bit crap. Always struggled to get results as good as the camera jpegs with ACR, and thought the whole raw think was a bit geeky and over blown. Then got a free copy of Nikon's (slow!) converter with the D300, and now I get it!
