A salvage car has caught my attention, light frontal damage; no airbag deployment. The dealer say's that the "Engine turns but does not start due to fuel cut off"

Is this normal/typical, or a sign of a much deeper problem?

often there's an inertia switch that, when it senses an impact, odd angle etc. It toggles a cut off to the fuel pump. It should be resetable, although upon inspection as long as the front of the car hasn't been compressed to a point that it is pressed into the engine, i wouldn't worry too much.

The inertia switch is often fitted in or on the nearside 'A' post and will have a red reset button.
