L322 Door wont open (Not Frozen)
Discussion
Hi folks,
Can anyone help. I have a 02 plate L322, the front passanger door wont open, there is no key hole on the door either so cant use manual opening.
Obviously if the door was open it would be easy to remove the door card but not so when its shut,
The local dealer want to charge £100 per hour labour + a new door card from them would be best part of £1000.
Its definatly not frozen as a few people have suggested.
I would be greatful for any suggestions.
Cheers
David

This happened to my friends P38. He took it everywhere and nobody could get it open. Eventually had to go to the main dealer and they cut the lock off by opening the rear door and cutting through a small hole in the B pillar. I can`t be exact but from memory the cost was approx £500.

A similar thing happened to me on an M3 and BMW assist managed to get a leaver down past the glass and release the door. The cable had come out of the door handle. Probably a totally different mechanism on RR but worth a thought. It took the BMW guy no more than 10mins to sort without any damage. Can anyone help. This is a common fault, google Range Rover door lock and you will find a 'How to' It involves a long screw driver and a mallet.
There is a plastic housing that need to be smashed that houses a Spring, once the housing is broken the spring pops and the door opens. Be aware though that the door will not close again once opened so source a replacement from a scrappy before starting!
Even I have done this and I am of limited ability when it comes to DIY
