Warning - Black Ice
Discussion
I had a heart-in-mouth moment on Bon Accord street tonight; slowed right down at the top of the hill waiting for the traffic below to sort itself out (total carnage; cars jacknifed, not getting up the hill, hitting kerbs, mounting pavements etc); waiting there quite the thing when the car starts to slide forward
and when it started it wasn't going to stop.
Just missed the taxi trying to do a three point turn but I was heading for a Ka that had hit the kerb and was stopped sideways across the road. Luckily (and I mean by the grace of god!) my car starts to go sideways the same way and I stop literally inches from the Ka; wing-mirrors touching
A big thank you to the chap sitting opposite the lights who saw what was happening and waited so I could pull around the Ka and cross Willowbank/Springbank and carry on (with my heart going ten to the dozen!)

Was at the Premier inn on west north street Aberdeen this evening, and littlejohn street was sheer black ice, and of course it's a really steep hill. Police officers were patrolling the street, stopping cars on west north street so cars could get down, seeing as they wouldn't be able to stop, they were even reversing down.
Then I helped an old lady get her car out the car park on east north street.
While I was doing that a car slid off the road and onto the central reservation on east north street.
And more incidents...
Seriously, I wouldn't bother going out.

Did myself a lovely 360 degree pirouette at denburn road roundabout, i'd have given it at least an 9 for composure!
A90 was a f*****g disgrace, appalling show by those in command. Pretty serious crashes at Glenbervie-ish turn off and a police rolling road block down to Laurencekirk southbound (crashes were on the north!?). The road i was on was southbound and to be honest was only really affected by a wee bit of drifting, totally unnecessary waste of police time involved for our 30mph blockade.
One lonely gritter i came across in my 60 mile trip, get a grip council chaps, can't put a price on safety IMO!

Not much fell over night. It'll be fine, just take it easy. Not supossed to snow again until tomorrow.
Road look clear, even outside Aberdeen, see live view for the cameras.

Why did you not just say ICE WARNING no such thing as BLACK ICE its just called ICE the term black ice is used by motoring Organizations when bad drivers are skidding and crashing as they cannot turn round to their paying customers and say they are crap drivers. The big give away it is icy is when the side of the road is white And shinny like diamonds and i am pretty sure it can make its way all 6 inchs to tarmac too also give away it was a clear night last night and generally very cold. IMHO this term is false.
If you think i am wrong post up in the advanced driving section and you will see where we are coming from.

I came home at about 10.30, and when I looked out the window at 8am there must have been another 3 inches of snow on the car...at least!

I'd rather stick red hot needles in my Jackson Pollocks! That was quite a w

Eric

What's the odds on him wrapping his motor round a tree because of 'black ice'?
