Helicopters over aberdeen
Discussion
I saw this on the way into town too, they appeared very close together, looked strange, all those lights so close together. We counted 7, although I think some were small planes.
Tell me, how can't a chopper land, visibility was good, it just needs to drop down.
It's a total embarassment when the airport can be shut considering it's +1 degrees outside and about 2cm of snow.

If there's excessive amounts of snow on the tarmac, it will get blown about by the rotor downwash and cause 'white out', completely obscuring the pilot's visibility, often leading to lack of situational awareness and a crash. In the desert a similar phenomenon occurs with sand (brown out), adding to the dangers aircrew in Iraq/Afghanistan face:Tell me, how can't a chopper land, visibility was good, it just needs to drop down.
