heh..

Top Gear used to be great. Now, unfortunately, since Clarkson started to become seriously rich, he's disappeared so far up his own backside, the best Crimbo present for him would be a miners lamp. Gobby, childish muppet...

I don't see the issue really. He negotiated a deal with the bbc, which they are continuing to adher to. If I negotiate a salary increase at work and it is viewed as too large/ridiculous/unfair, well tough, that's what I agreed with my paymasters and likewise Clarkson has done the same. If anything we should applaud the man for sticking out for a big bucks deal, rather than slinking along with whatever the beeb originally were paying him yonks ago.

For those who think the money could have been better spent elsewhere, well maybe your right but at the end of the day if Clarkson wasn't pocketing xxxxxx amount then it would have gone back into the beeb coffers, it certainly would not have gone to anything more deserving.

So you could argue the issue of how much Clarkson gets paid is really an issue of jealously on behalf of those that wish they had that kind of financial clout.

And to be frank, if he is earning that kind of money, well the beeb won't be running at a loss on that deal.

I'm sorry but who cares? Also it's not anyones business confused

If some people out there focussed in on their lifes for once rather than others I'm sure they'd be able to match his salary or be just as happy.

Fair play to him, he obviously works very hard and has helped create a hugely successful brand.

How many other journalists have two columns in the same Sunday newspaper too.

I imagine it's a tiny percentage of what the Top Gear brand makes.

Good luck to him.

Succesful TV presenter in 'earns money shocker'

Personally I was suprised it was that low, considering what Ross gets/got payed.

Indeed - despite the BBC's leftist eco tendencies, Top Gear must be their biggest earner, even before you take into account selling the format to other countries. Clarkson and Wilman have created a successful product that earns a lot of money, and are taking a cut of it - I really don't see the problem.

Yes, everyone can earn £2,000,000 a year. I am obviously not working hard enough.

I wouldn't mind Clarkson earning from sales of Top Gear had he funded the show. As he didn't and I did, I think I deserve along with the rest of the British public, to share all the profits.

So he gets a slice of the profits? Fair enough. Whilst it pains me, the show wouldn't make as much money without him.

Much the same as a trader, make money for the bank, get a bigger bonus. Such is the way of the world is it not?

A shame it doesn't cut the other way though, f**k up and lose lots of money, then get money taken off. That would soon ensure the Civil Service didn't p**s away billions.
