Makes my piss boil....any other organisation wouldn't have got permission to knock a listed building down and build a fking golden temple with 100ft towers in a conservation area
Spineless Councillors at their best !

According to the local news tonight the approval has now been withdrawn as the opposition didn't get a chance to give their views.

That school would make some fantastic first time buyer messanine flats or if the area supports it some rather nice Exec Apparts with secure parking and grounds!

I agree we have to allow for integration to avoid basically "Civil unrest" however this is a two sided thing and special treatment over listed buildings is just "petrol on the fire".

Councellors really need to consider their P45s when things like that happen, especailly in the current climate!

Chill out bud, the real grammar and spelling police on here would have quoted you up, so that you couldn't edit any mistakes, then stuck it to you. Just a gentle dig from me. smile

Thats a scandal and a major fk up on behalf of SHBC.
Sod the Mosque or a Church or a Drop in Centre for Dropouts.

That land should be used for affordable housing for key workers
or developed in some usefull way with the profits going to the benifit
of Surrey Heath residents

Yeah they would. And even if they didn't there'd be a mysterious fire (for a change). Look at the old harvester builder on the A30/London Road. It is listed, no-one wanted it and then suddenly there's a mysterious (my arse!) fire and now it is being knocked down for flats.

Are you complaining it'll be a mosque or would you not object to it being knocked down and used for something else such as a church/temple/flats? i know the school is old but it's not used as one now so why not change it to something else? We don't care if old shops get demolished for a flashy new shopping complex.

He was probably complaining as it sounds at first look that the planners said no then the council overturned the decision because of religion. That is wrong.

I agree with Rick, if it's going to be used for something it should be used for the good of everyone not ANY religious group.

I agree with Rick and Ben.

We have a mosque down our road and it's a complete PITA. When they're there we can't park, they are there at all hours wailing over a loud speaker, our cars get damaged by them, they leave a mess in the road and they are an inconsiderate bunch of liars.

Do I want them out? Yes. Do I want another religious group in there? No! There have been talks of converting the place to a library for the local school which would mean they'd have to pedestrianise part of our street which I'm completely in favour of as it would stop people using our road as a short-cut too.

Anyway, went off at abit of a tangent but the point still stands.

We could buy some land next to it and set up a pork pie factory.
And also offer a traditional English Hog Roast over smoking coals

As I remember, similar was done in Bristol a few years back by the landowner with a car park next to a pub.The pub had become a social meeting point for one of the minorities. He bought a pig roast van, parked it on his land and proceeded to sell hot pork and stuffing rolls. Did a blinding trade too I believe, but I think the council put a stop to it in the end.

Personally I hope it does NOT get built!

That part of the A30 will go into meltdown being single lane and its busy there at the best of times.

I agree with the comments above it should be used for housing, not any religious or other nonsensical building.

What Frimley said rings very true on something that happened when I used to live in Slough. Building couldn't be knocked down.....mysterious fire......Mosque...

It needs to be turned into a detention centre. Or workhouse.

For all the fat, lazy, chain smoking, nylon wearing doley scum that slop and scuff around the town smoking and shouting.

So in nutshell the local community will object
Some limp wristed planners will vote it through
General public lose out again.

We don't need a Mosque in Camberley so use the land for the benifit
of Surrey Heath as a community.
Or sell it to a developer for much needed local housing instread of building on another farmers field.
