Car wont start then does start

Hi chaps been out in car over last couple of days and have had starting issues.Thursday went out and turned key turned over nicely but the engine wood not fire up then tried to start again then all of a sudden she starts.same happened yesterday evening was bit panicky as had a bit off a distance to go and did not want to be stranded.So checked all fuses in car everything fine then checked ones in engine bay by drivers side air filter(2.5).one of them that i checked when pushed back in could hear a noise coming from engine bay(could it be fuse for fuel pump)all fuses ok here.And car started fine after that but if problem comes back what things should i be checking/looking for.

what about the relays in the passenger footwell?

do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition on?

will just go out to car and c if i can hear it but cant remember hearing anything before but why does it all off a sudden start eventuelly

give all the fuse and relay bases a soaking in swtchclean or if you cant get any try WD40

went out started first time could not hear anyhting apart from a click sound from back when turning key half way then cd changer loading i wil try the wd40 thing Adrian maybe just a bad connection somewhere i just feel that surely whatever the prob is it could just not go away on its own?

Highly likely to be the yellow 20A fuse on the left hand end of the fuse board under the rear clam. The connections will be corroded. I cut the wires back on mine and put an in-line fuse in.

I have had the same problem and Bernhund is right, its the relay to the pump.

Thanks everyone for the help since i fiddled with the fuses under rear clam not had an issues so prob bad connection on the 20A fuse
