help - electrical problems again !!

Help,
Have had a few issues with the temp guage jumping about so last year got it replaced. All seemed to be well until I noticed that turning the lights on caused the temp guage to drop about 5 degrees. No big deal but today when I turned the lights on the speedo, rev counter, mileometer and fuel guage all wenyt off!!! Turn the lights off and they all work again......Any ideas or is it simply a case of booking it into an autoelectrician and watching the money run away as they "try" to find the problem?

I had a weird problem Wednesday.
Started up turned the lights on...nothing, flashed main beam and the lights then worked. Then the Ipod kept cutting out, I thought that was faulty, so went onto radio, still kept cutting out, lights then seemed to dim and flash slightly, then speedo stopped.
Popped into a shop for something started up and all was great not another problem at all.
Maybe an earth problem?
