How easy is it to use the Sky branded netgear router on an Aol account. Is it just plugging it and it detects the proper ISP settings or it will be quite fiddly.

The sky router has custom firmware so it'll be impossible to put your own username/password in as it hides this, unless you can hack it. There may be a way to flash new credentials to it, or to overwrite the firmware with one from the parent company of the router's manufacturer, or maybe even an opensource firmware (Tomato?) but you'd have to google this, and it probably isn't easy.

thanks for the reply. Found some info [url]http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread... about flashing the router. Seems easier to just buy one from ebay than mess around.

This site deals primarly with hacking BT routers ,but I think I've seen some mention og netgear routers .You could have a look round and failing finding info ask .Friendly bunch .

I use an old Sky router with BE/O2. You need to go back to the original firmware first then update it. Took about 10 minutes and works better than the O2 router.

Especially easy if it's a Netgear router, as you just need to re-flash it with normal Netgear firmware.
