How different is a Griffith to a Chimaera
Discussion
i had a 500 chim before my griff.basically the ride and handling are no different, although my griff is slightly less stable at speed,i feel this may be tired suspension.theyll all vary slightly due to age/mileage/modifications/owner care etc.etc.its all down to looks and practicality im afraid, the chim is certainly more practical, but im hooked on the looks of the grif

Hi big sump, i cant realy explain this maybe someone else can?? but after having the pleasure in driving loads of griffs/chims the griff always feals faster standard or modified than than the chim and a lot more sporty in the handling i really dont know why because there basically the same car hope fully some else can explain this plzzzzzzzz!!

.seriosly though,as long as your comparing apples with apples then theyre the same.ie. 500 with 500 or 500hc with 500hc. 4.0 and 4.3 are not comparable as of couse griffs in this size are pre-cat.anything thats been modded shouldnt be compared as a std of course.early cars have different std suspension to later cars-several changes through their life.also dont forget the 'red' factor

What are the most noticable differences in the two apart from the shape,is the ride firmer,is there a lot less cabin space, any help would be much appeciated.
IMHO after about 1996 they're pretty much identical under the skin. I think any ride differeces are more likely to be down to individual cars, eg tyres, geometry, state of suspension etc.
The cockpits are the same but different, if you what I mean, and some of the controls are different, but you can see that for yourself. The engine is a bit easier to get to because the bonnet hinges at the back, and the boot is maybe 25% smaller front to back.
You'd best go and poke around some! But I think the main attraction is the front view

A quote from an old car mag I've got says:
'Someone once compared Griffiths and Chimaeras with WW2 Spitfires and Hurricanes. The Hurricanes were more numerous, they did the business, but the Spitfire was the glamorous one, that bit quicker and purer and more thrilling'
Need I say anymore?!!
