Motion detection webcam software?

I have a Swann USB DVR http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=22149... connected to a wireless camera just for simple security/curiosity.
The software that comes with it(PC DVR-4-Net) is a bit clunky, does anyone has any experience with these and can you use alternative software with it?
My main gripe is GUI and the remote viewing and browsing of past recordings.
