Need a mini pci network card!
Discussion
I've just acquired (for zilch) an old Dell laptop. It works fine but doesn't have a network card installed, only a modem in the mini pci slot. But can I track down a mini pci modem/LAN card? No - every one I can find are wireless cards and I don't need one of them!
Does anyone have one they don't need, or point me in the direction of one?

What about a USB fast eternet adapter that plugs into a spare USB port and you plug the network cable into that?

I'd rather not use an expansion card. The laptop has an RJ45 socket, but it's not connected to anything. The cable is in place, but the installed card is modem only.99% of Dell laptops made after 2000 have an integrated Ethernet. Should be part of the motherboard chipset.
The mini-pci is usually just to add wireless/modems
Which model, as some mini-pci cards are not always the same.
If its broken or just not available, 1st check the drivers are installed, secondly the other option will probably be PCMCIA, which should be easier to acquire.
