Was at the Finmere MOT day on sat.

Constant drifting ment that by lunch had knackered my rear tyres a treat

Anyway my day was at that point over, but a very nice man was there & ran me to & from Bicester- approx 20 miles round trip to go to a partworn tyre place that he knew, none in the size in needed so he nipped to his place & lent me a pair of wheels & tyres from his place so I could play the rest of the day.

Anyway cracking chap & that was bloody nice of him, so one good turn deserves another so I can only give him a thumbs up & say nice guy & a Mazda mx5 & general Mazda specialist based in Bicester=

He looked after my MX5 before I bought it, and a friend's MX5 too, he seems to be very well regarded around here smile

Blimey! Was fortunate that you bumped into such a decent guy.

I am considering going on one of these car control days this spring. Whilst I expect to "do" a set of rears I would like to be able to drive home legally afterwards. That photo is something else! Is that amount of wear usual or were your tyres on the limit before you started?

No not standard power, but read my pals trip report here, I think I had the only FI mx5 there & check out some of the other smokers! so don't need power to drift em nicely smile

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... car control day @ Finmere with Mazda on Track. 30/01/10

In fairness myself & he were drifting all day & specifically were there for that- well ok the odd spin thrown in! smile & we both went through 2 sets of rear tyres! I knew id do a pair but to do 2 sets was a bit unexpected in 20 odd miles! smile

We both trailered while all others drove home, so were not as hard on their tyres. Its really a car control day so playing with yr car & feeling understeer & oversteer & lift off mid corner & braking mid corner etc etc all the learn about yr car & arseing about stuff thats too silly to try on a regular track day, we both do lots of track days so just wanted to something diferent & play driftys all day smile

I drove a pals standard 1.6mx5 & another mates M3= the yellow one as my m3 track car is almost the same spec & even the same colour & I would have taken mine also if I could have resolved an issue in time.

Great day can't recommend it highly enough.
