x5 door handle

My x5 03 has a broken drivers side door handle.in the freezing weather i pulled it hard and it went floppy . now it wont open from that side from outside.Have you any idea what has broken and can you give me any idea how to repair as i would like to try and do it myself.

Hi Andrew,
Can't help you myself but this would seem to be a common problem.
Try searching on x5drivers.co.uk or xoutpost.com if you haven't already as I've seen posts on this subject on both of these sites.
