I read somewhere recently it was about 870 - surprised me it was so low - thought it would have cleared 1000.

Just found it in this week's Autocar TVR = 871 for 2003.

I wonder if their gross profit is higher now though?

How many TVR's are lost every year through crashes/scrappers etc - anyone have a source of such info' ?

870 is not 'all' bad for a hand made car me thinks....

Alan.

edited to say I'd rather they make less if the quality improves...and from what I have seen on my car and other 03 cars...it has!

Their profit per car is much higher now - less reliance on external suppliers means they can keep it high, even though they make less cars. Its part of the strategy that Wheeler has adopted to keep the company flexible and profitable.

I was round the factory on Friday past (will post some pictures soon)

I can still smell the glassfiber resin.....

870 is not bad considering what goes into making them !!

Agreed with keeping the volume low to keep quality high!

Apparently Lotus made approximately twice the TVR figure.

Assuming the avergae price of a new TVR is £42K (I stand to be corrected), then 870 sales = £36,540,000 turnover. Hopefully they can pay the staff, buy the bits and still have some loot left over?!

Anyone got any idea how much their racing programme sets them back?

and is manufacturing similar profits-wise to sales i.e. bags more money generated in parts/servicing etc?

They are a limited company - go on the companies house website, pay a tenner, and they'll email the latest audited accounts as a pdf file.

Ain't hard to find out how much money they make ( or lose) or even how much debt they have, creditors , cash in the bank, etc..

Same for any limited company..

But there's still only half the BHP rolling out of their factory every year!

Actually old chap, turnover would be £31.1 million, as you neglected to deduct VAT.

And if we assume that there is a dealer margin of, say, 5%, then TVR's turnover drops to £29.6m.

On the flip side you have parts, bodyshop and servicing done by the factory and TVR Power...

...so who knows!

The filing deadline for the 2003 accounts is not until the end of October 2004. Going on track record, I doubt you'll see any 2003 financials for TVR until at least then.

They were aiming 1000 car for 2003 as its their most profitable point long term taking into consideration residuals.

Warranty will have hit them this year but not as much as in 2001/2002, next year in light of the oil channel modifications I forsee a damned good year for TVR.
