Need a little help as I'm about to have a carpet set made up, using the existing carpets as a pattern. Unfortunately, the carpets were replaced not long before I bought the car, and TBH it's not a great job, so I can't be sure that if the cut of the pieces in the car is the same as those originally fitted. For example, there is an odd piece along the inner edge of the footwells, complete with a bound edge, which seems unnecessary if the vertical section along the tunnel were just extended slightly:

Similarly, the section with the vertical bound edge seems odd.

Does anyone else with a 400 / 450 have similar?
Thanks.

You can replace your without using any binding just fold the edges over to make a nice edge - you don't really need the old set for a pattern either just cut the rough shape with enough waste to trim back to fit and use the right adhesive. A trimmer will charge a bit for the job for doing the same thing unless you really want the binding which can be bought ready made and glued into place.
I'm having the guys in Blackpool make up a complete carpet set, but I'm nowhere near them to take the car to, so they need the old ones as patterns. I prefer the edges to be bound as well, but looking at my car, it looks like a poor diy job has been done, hence my questions about the odd joints. I just don't want them to replicate something which may be wrong.
