Nero nemesis questions
Discussion
I'm close to crossing to the dark side, and basically it comes down to a choice between gloss black and the matte nero nemesis. My questions for any owners of nero nemesis cars (either G or M's), are how do you keep the car clean? I assume traditional waxes and polishes are out. Does it absorb oil and dirt more easily than a standard gloss finish? Does it scratch easily? Finally if (please god no!) I ding it is it a hideously expensive and time consuming job to get panel/s resprayed?
Thanks for any feedback you have. Don't want to be too specific about the exact car as I'm hideously superstitious/paranoid about these things until the deal is done! If and when it lands I'll post pics. Ta, Z

Zahal - I'm almost 100% not-at-all-sure about this, but I would think that the care effort needed for either colour would be much the same - though I'm sure your regular valet people (if they are any good at all) would probably treat a matt black car as a pretty unique opportunity for them to work perhaps a little differently...
...and there'll be no prangs or dings if you predetermine it and don't feel the nasty prangy, ding-making force!
Mostly, regardless of the colour or the type you choose -
BENVENUTI AL LATO OSCURO!

Hi
I've got a metallic black SV and whilst it isn't easy to keep clean, I think the matt would be even worse. My dealer had a matt black LP640 and it showed every fingerprint, stone chip, and bit of road debris. When I had my car detailed, the Swissvax guys showed me the different products they had to use on the matt carbon bits, I don't think you can use even the same shampoo if you want to do it right. And whilst small swirls and paint imperfections can be corrected on normal finishes, I was told this isn't really possible on matt surfaces.
I personally would go "gloss" every time. But matt cars do look stunning when they're clean.

Thanks guys. A trawl of various Lambo forums and the internet in general generated limited (and often conflicting) opinions. The consensus does seem to be that the matte shows dirt, fingerprints etc far more than a traditional finish and it can be very hard to clean properly. Others say it's a piece of piss and just wash it but don't polish it. All things being equal I'd shoot for the nemesis (even though every other M3 I see in London is painted/wrapped matte black nowadays), but if it only ever looks great the day you drive it out the showroom, it seems pretty pointless. Decisions, decisions.
Although it looks incredible on a brand new SV, I'd definitely give it a miss.
Can't see £20K value in it, and after seeing cars with a few thousand miles looking absolutely shagged, I'd just wrap it for £3K, then make your mind up!
If money's no object then great, but if it were my car I'd very quickly get bored and wish it could be more easily maintained. Which it can't!
But we're all different, thank God!

I was at the factory a while ago looking at an SV. When I was chatting about the matt colours the guy at the factory said
it was a problem to maintain and that if you get a scratch it cannot be 'touched up' and at a minimum the whole panel needs to be
resprayed.......but they do look great!

Had a chat about matte paint with a pro detailer, and he said it's impossible to detail.
His suggestion is ever so simple: Get your car in a desirable colour (resale time!) and have it wrapped in matte black. Costs you a fraction of the 20K Lambo option, your original paint is protected, and if you want gloss green the next year, you can just replace the wrap...
The vinyl is also a lot more durable than the paint.
