I spent the evening 5 hours or so, sitting in a pub with my mates, as you do on a saturday night. We started off in a pub and ended up in a weathershite.

About 11.45 (yes it really was still open then) I wandered out, and got buffeted by the wind, it was coming up the street towards me, long street with tall buildings either side as I walked to the car and jumped in. My mates got in another car and buggered off, I got in the Focus and started the 10 minute journey home. Had the heffer on the bonnet (see the Roadkill thread) adn then drove away, followed by a 3 series with pretty lights on the top. Oooo.

About a mile down the road, the blue lights come on, I had fractured the speed limit slightly, I was doing about 33 mph. And the car is 11 months old, so it isn't in desperate need of repair.

I stop and grab my Licence and my Cover note (which was in the car for reasons unknown to me ) and get out. One copper took the docs off me and began reading and then asked me for the MOT certificate he was corrected by his colleague who quickly pointed out that it hasn't been through an MOT yet.

Anyway, they asked me where I had been. Crown Inn, Salt Cot. Then they asked me to get in the car. Fair enough. It was a bit windy.

They asked how much I had to drink. 5 pints. They breath Tested me and it came out Negative, they tried again, Still Negative, and I am running out of puff.

Then the driver actually had the sense to ask me What I was drinking.

Lemonade

B*ll*ks Was the reply. They are on a DD crackdown, and when they saw me come out of the pub, thought they may have one in the bag.

No such luck unfortunatly, but good to see them going after The real danger on our roads, not just speeders

If your speedo showed 33mph, you were most probably doing 30 or 31 mph - Streaky

That probably explains why he was still up at 01:00, either peeing for England or on a massive sugar rush!
I did the designated driver thing not so long ago, was up until about 3a.m.!

Is it OK to be pulled just for emerging from a pub and getting into a car?

Yes, I think so. I could have had 5 pints of Lager. The police IMO, don't do enough stops of potential DD's. I was a potential. It could've been the bloke who walked out infront of me, I saw him drink at least 2 pints of heavy, and some other stuff.

I gave them his Reg No too

Theoretically, and as "intended by parliament", no; which is presumably why they waited until he broke the speed limit.
However, as they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
