3rd Generation Run Flat Tyres - anybody know anything ?
Discussion
Evening All.
As above really - had a quick google on the above but there doesn't seem to much in the way of recent information (most of the articles go back 6-9 months). Does anybody know when they are likely to go on sale to the general public or even if they are being fitted to any new cars by the manufacturer ?
Most of the talk is about Bridgestones but I believe there may be others on the way too...
Cheers, DD.

In principle yes I agree but according to this :
'The final run through the test course was done with the all-new RE050A "3G" run-flats. Eureka! Surprising even the skeptics among us, the third-generation tires were nearly imperceptible in ride quality from the standard tires (non run-flat) we had driven on merely minutes earlier. The ride was very comfortable. According to Bridgestone, test instruments reveal that the slight difference in ride quality was a near-imperceptible 5 percent change in harshness.'
Ok this may be total b
ks but I guess any improvement in ride quality would be a good thing as the current RFTs are widely acknowledged to be dire !

I'd say there was a 90% chance that's b'The final run through the test course was done with the all-new RE050A "3G" run-flats. Eureka! ks.But even if it isn't they will still be 2-3 times more expensive than an equivalent standard tyre, and probably won't be repairable.
I'm a real anti-runflat devotee though, i could barely believe how much better my car is on normal tyres than runflats.
