hi all,

i physically own my XP key (as in, have the sticker on an empty case)that my current homebrew PC uses, and i have since used the same key on an old laptop i was given, after wiping and re-installing xp, now, how can i get rid of this stupid 30 day warning message, is there any way i can use the same liscence on 2 machines (the laptop wont be going online, purely vehicle diagnostics)

thanks...

I think the licence states that it is for use on one machine only.

You certainly shouldn't be doing that - and as a result, it won't be easy.

Especially as the first machine it was installed on will be on the internet (you could probably call MS to get it authorised, but the first machine would then become deauthorised).

There is a simple activation crack around. However this is dangerous and is 100% illegal......

if its your key then simply phone up microsoft for an activation code - they don't ask any questions, its simply to stop you using a code generated from a "keygen"...if they do ask you simply say you changed your home PC and wiped the old one......you don't have to give any personal details...

...oh, its also illegal anyway, as someone else said - a license is for single use only...

Strictly Speaking, if the sticker is on an old PC case, then you don't have a licence at all. It is an OEM licence and is non-transferable. The orginal PC is dead. The licence is dead.

There are ways the activation, but thats not a dicussion for here. Sometimes you have to snap the bricks together yourself!

lol best "how do I crack XP" thread yet.

If you cant work it out from the millions of pages about it on Google, best not to mess around with a crack.

I thought that ms tacitly allowed several installs per key before they had an issue.

But the nagging wont go away until you register it.

Lets not forget that XP is now out of support, why not go buy 7?

XP is not out of support. XP support ends in 2014.

Does anyone actually pay attention to the Windows EULA for home use?

Yarrrr me harties

.... not that I would condone such activity. It is illegal and will land you with 7 years hard labour in the clink if you even think about installing Windows on 2 machines and cracking the 2nd one

I was referring to the guy above you that said support for XP had ended.
I cant understand people like that, that just blurt out rubbish as though it is fact. Normally it is "my mate told me..."
Its a dangerous thing to do, especially on here where we know the majority cant use Google lol

After several installs,XP activitation wont let you activate ,but referring to MS gives you a code -punch it in and on you go .

Which crack was it ?

Is it the one that opens in CMD and replaces the DLL files for you ?

needed opening in system 32 folder. spat out its dummy and said "file too big" which i interpreted as, its been patched...

and yeah, multi-use liscence came from an "educational establishment"

Jackal, drop me a line with a link if you could be so kind? need to run codes on my car and have 3 days to sort this before i have to wipe an start again...
