I currently have cable broadband from Virgin Media and have decided to switch to them, from BT, for my landline. Install/switch over is in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of questions regarding the installation of the phone service.

I assume they will need to run another cable into the house from the access point in the street ?

If yes, will they feed this new cable down the same green plastic pipe as the current broadband cable or will they add a second green plastic pipe just for the phone cable ? The reason I ask is that the current green plastic pipe is buried under gravel and I could easily clear it for the installation person to access.

What "hardware" do they install inside the house? I would prefer it if they did not go digging holes in walls, for pattress boxes etc. .

TIA.

When I had mine installed they talked everything through with me and then did all I asked, they were very considerate and cleaned up (not that they made much mess) when they had done.
I my case they ran a separate cable through the garden and they did drill a hole but thats what I wanted. There is one small box in the house and is put where you want it and then the TV, phone and BB are run from that with the router where I wanted it. All in all they were spot on for me.

Normally the phone cable is installed with the TV cable weather you need it or not as they are zipped together. All they need to do (if you were installed with this cable) is a phone outlet box fitting next to the box you already have on the wall from cable.
