Haven't been on the A339 from Basingstoke to Newbury for a couple of weeks. Coming home Friday night I see 2 new front facing Truvelo speed cameras mounted just before and after the junction near the Stone Masons as you head out of Basingstoke. The first one is about 1/4 past the last roundabout off of the ring road.

Thanks for that. I use that road fairly regularly and until recently it was camera free.

That section is NSL! WTF is a camera doing there.

I can believe that the junction is a blackspot mind you...visibility is excellent and no-one should prang there but numpties lose patience in the traffic and pull into non-existent gaps - must be what was happening...

However that road is very, very fast. ( ) And this is an unwelcome intrusion into my enjoyment of it...

Incidentally, the top of the hill near there, where there's two lanes up-, 1 lane downhill, is a known spot for a lurking gun-toting observer.

Just something to bear in mind as one decides whether or not to overtake the next half-dozen cars...

Don standard practice: Immediately move out into second lane, drop a cog and introduce loud pedal to carpet. Pass all traffic until necessary to merge.

I often see the far side of tri-digit veclocities...

Ooops...time to give up that manouver...
