OK, I have utorrent, I've tried adding torrents to it (it usually works fine) but recently half the time whilst it finds the seeders in the brackets, it doesn't seem to want to connect to any of them.
Any advice?

You can't necessarily connect to the people in brackets. This is because utorrent and the tracker will continue to see the seeds for quite a while after they've left the swarm. So, even though utorrent may report something like (0) 8 in the seeds column, it doesn't actually mean there are those 8 seeds for you to connect to. It might be because the seeds have gone offline and the stats haven't updated, or it might be because the seeds have reached their connection limit for that torrent (in other words, you're in a queue).

Does it do it for all torrents? Is the little green tick at the bottom of utorrent there? Try and download a Linux distro torrent, which tend to be well seeded. If you get a number such as 0 (300) in the seeds column for the Linux torrent, then the problem is probably with your port forwarding or with your ISP limiting P2P. If the Linux torrent connects and starts downloading, then the explanation is my first paragraph.

some sites require private registration if non legit, but helps to know what trying to download, if non legit, do not bother asking smile

I have the same problem, i was told its because most torrent clients connect to the fastest seeds, of which i'm not one.
