Hello all, I'm going to look at an E46 325 ci (M spec) this weekend with a view to buying. She's a 2003 (53) and has done 85k with, apparently, FBMWSH. Up for £7,500

My questions are:

1. I feel fine about that mileage in a well serviced 325. Flat 6 can take it. Agreed? (reassurance needed chaps. My 840 had 172k but at a lower price level and wasn't my main car)

2. Can anyone point me in the direction of common niggles/items to check on a 325 of this vintage- belt change intervals etc?

seems like an ok prices if its a face lift model??
its chain driven so no belt change in that respect
bushes and suspension items are what to look for at that mileage, check it doesnt wobble under braking or tramline too much also find a big bump and see how it goes over that on the test drive.
if its auto make sure there are no clunks changing between drive and reverse
check the service history as you say.
on a side note have you considered a 330? there is more out there to choose from and in my opinion superior
good luck!!

A flat 6 is a completely different engine, think you mean a straight 6....

thanks Taylor86

yes, it is the facelift.

Responding to your 330 question will make me sound a tool but economy/insurance are an issue. Actually, more the insurance. I have 9 points in the last 5 years and can't (on principle not on the basis of cost) part with what they want for the premium. Not my only car so the annual premiums rack up.

I thought the 325 would still be fairly tidy in the performance stakes.

I assume the 325 will be the same as my 330 - offside rear brake pipe inside the wheel arch is a known corrosion point. Needs to be kept clean and greased.
