Assisted Suicide Tribunals?

"Sir Terry Pratchett says he is ready to be a test case for assisted suicide "tribunals" which could give people legal permission to end their lives."
Good on him. I've heard him say in the past that he would prefer to end his life how he chooses rather than when the Alzheimers dictates it's time to go.
"Baroness Finlay, an independent peer who is a professor of palliative medicine, told BBC Radio 4's Today it was "hardly surprising" the Panorama poll had found public support for assisted suicide because "opinion polls reflect the way something is presented in the media"."
And she can f
k right off. I've been pro-euthanasia ever since I knew what the word meant. Watching my Grandfather die only increased my belief that in certain cases it is the right thing to allow. The media is never going to make me vote any differently in the opinion poll, and to be honest I find this to be an astoundingly blinkered view from someone in power. FFS can't some people get it through their heads that there are TERRIBLE ways to die, and that in some cases ending your own life will simply stop prolonged suffering? WHY IS THAT SUCH A TERRIBLE THING!?

Would be sad to see him go..but it is his choice alone. He has given me many hours pleasure through his creative literary genius. I also agree that it really should be up to the individual."Sir Terry Pratchett says he is ready to be a test case for assisted suicide "tribunals" which could give people legal permission to end their lives."

That is actually 100% correct
If or when assisted suicide is legalised, there will undobtedly be cases of it being used(abused) by people who find their sick relatives nothing more than an inconvenience. There will be pressure on people who are terminally ill to 'go gentle into that good night', just because that option is available. Anyone who thinks this will not happen is kidding themselves. No matter how good the checks and balances, whatever the system, it will end up prematurely ending the lives of those who do not want their lives ended.
I hate to say it but i feel that one of the reasons our leaders don't want us to have the option of checking out early is they don't want to loose control of a part of our lives. it goes against the state knows best system that we are living in
I'd rather we bumped off a few grannies early and have the option to say night night should i end up with a nasty slow horrible disease

Keep your pet alive in pain and misery, you'll be prosecuted. Kill it and be merciful and kind. It I were terminally ill, and in pain, I'd start barking.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
