Tax question for those in the know
Discussion
I had my best mate over yesterday, and I was telling her about the hassle I had been having with getting my SA done online (long story). This lead to further discussions about tax.
To cut a long story short, her husband works full time, and she works part time. They have been married for almost 6 years. Apparently they haven't been claiming the married persons allowance!
So I did a little search online for a calculator that took this into account, and does seem that indeed they haven't been receiving the allowance.
Is this right:
Going on what he grosses £27,000 PA he should be taking home £1,702.90 a month? They don't have children, and she said he doesn't contribute to any pension through work.
He is in fact taking home 1,549.44
So, can he claim back the extra £150+ a month (varying each year since they were wed of course) from the last 5/6 years?
Thanks to anyone that replies!

The married couples allowance is only for those over 65
There are numerous deductions which the employer might be making; car allowance, student loan, payments on account etc
OR he might be squirreling some away to pay secret loans / credit cards / child support arrangements.
Only way to know is to see his payslips. Tread very carefully!

Bless them, I'll have to get them to contact the tax office. It seems they could be in for a nice little sum.
