Has anyone here skied in Obergurgl?

Just booked a week there. I've never visited the resort in the past ...although I have occasionally sniggered at its name in the brochures.

I've been twice. The name is indeed fantastic. Lovely place to go, not much nightlife though, but I like it for that reason. Very family friendly, challenging enough to keep the casual skier (me) interested. I'd recommend it.

Yes, lovely area - the other 'gurgls' can be accessed easily from there and as said, not too much in the way of nightclubs, but that's never bothered me.

Haven't been for a while so look forward to hearing your report.

Yep, we were aware of the lack of nightlife when we booked. It's probably a slightly quiet choice for lads' holiday, but the philosophy was that we have the remaining 51 weeks a year to go out, when hangovers won't eat into expensive ski time! It's always taken me a while to get used to altitude so alcohol on ski holidays tends to end badly (ironically I was fine when I worked in the alps, but I think I need a few days to adjust...)

It's going to be interesting to see what the skiing's like. It's been a while since I've skied properly so I'm personally hoping for some very flattering runs. biggrin
