So some of you may remember my plea for help with the Cutty Sark. I have called Airfix and they tell me the replacements for the bent/broken parts are on the way so I decided to make a start.

Got the hull together but as with any cheap kit I suppose there are some areas that don't quite line up or meet properly. I think with a bit of filler it can be made good - so what do you clever chaps recommend?

Or, you can use car body filler if you've got any - it'll all sand down the same once set. The only problem might be if you have to scribe any detail into the filled area, it tends to crumble

(EDIT: all the aforementioned fillers tend to crumble when scribed in my recent experience!). I'm assuming you're filling the hull keel joint, so there shouldn't be any problems at all. Be careful you keep filler off the surrounding plastic, you can use masking tape either side of the gap to prevent this).

Quite correct. just along the keel and the bow is maybe 1mm or so out so a bit of blending there. No scribing thanks goodness.
