its a pointless vehicle, but lookswise I don't have a problem with it.

I think it looks hideous to the point where it's almost funny. I do wonder what it'd look like if it was a normal car with that style. It might almost be cool. The main problem is the ground clearance. It looks like a car gone wrong. But this could be said for most 4x4s that look like obese versions of normal cars trying to avoid getting mice up their skirts. smile

I thought they looked stupid, until a black one passed me on the motorway. Have to admit, I though it actuially looked quite good, strong presence. In a way it kind of says 'This is me, I don't give a toss what you think. '. Not only that, I suspect it would be a great way to travel. Mind you, the sensible money would buy an X5.

Because:
- a 4x4 traditionally offered at least off road performance, and the X6 (as well as the X5) does not
(cue: no road clearance, no low transfer box, no locking differential)
- the X6 has less interior space than a 5 series
- the X6 weighs 2+ tonnes & has a high centre of gravity is not a natural recipe for a "driving machine"

In short, everything an X6 does, a 5 series X Drive equipped equivalent would do so much better. The styling, well, it is all a matter of personal taste (or lack off) but to me the X6 is the answer to a question that never needed asking ("who needs a 4 seater, coupe shaped SUV that has been hit repeatedly with the ugly stick)? Anything big will automatically have road presence but that does not equate to a great design statement. All of the above, of course, IMHO...

I like them. Very aggressive styling, the first I saw on the road came up behind me and I nearly shat myself.

IMO it's a great looking car. Forget the function of it, it's a damn good bit of design.

Clearly if you need an off roader, interior space etc, get something else.

You'll never convince me that Porsche didn't pay BMW to build this monstrosity to take the heat of the Cayenne in the ugly stakes.

I think it looks bloody awful, it makes Cayennes & Multiplas look good.
Each to their own though, I'm big, boxy and funny looking & I'm sure people say similar about me

Useless off-road, useless on road.

Most cars manage to achieve at least one of the above.

I don't dislike it. Okay, as an off-roader it's useless, but of all the SUVs it's easily the best looking and if I wanted a vehicle of that size for road use only then I'd be very tempted. I've seen a couple and they didn't look as stupidly big as I expected from the photos I've seen. In reality though I'd only want an SUV if I had a need for something that had some ability to operate in adverse conditions, so it would have to be a Range Rover for me!

Exactly, I love the looks from the outside, in black or grey, though when I told the salesman that I liked it because it shouts "fk you" to every other road user, he looked a little shocked! Terribly disappointed with the interior though, can anything be done to improve the rear console or the PC World spec sliding covers over the cup holders etc?
