After clearing a deceased relatives home we have 100's of photos (no negatives) that we would like scanned so they can be shared with the rest of the family, and stored easily.

Our local indi photographer charges 5p a print to do this (although this inculdes him touching them up/repair/re-colour them). He doesn't know of anyone locally that can do this amount.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a place that does them in bulk please? The majority don't need any work done to them (those that do we can sort and give to the local guy)

Is it something you could do yourself as a project? You can usually get 4 prints under an A4 scanner, or quicker still, re-photograph them under a nice even light.

When I said 100's I meant closer to 1000's honestly John, there are boxes and boxes of them!

I know I'm not working at the moment, but I'm not that bored! (and our scanner is pants! hehe)

I just want to box them, send them and get them back smile

at 5p a print - that's only £50 for a 1000 photos. if that includes touching up and sorting out it sounds like quite a bargain for the hassle factor alone.

5p a print seems very cheap to scan, photoshop and print each photo.

So he would charge a fiver to scan in 100 photos, repair/colour each picture and then print off 100 photos on his printer?
Surely it would cost him ten times that just in ink?

Err..I doubt he prints them biggrin The point is to turn them into digital images for sharing/uploading etc.
